When your favorite artist releases their new album your question usually is “Is this going to be as good as their last one.” Well this was my exact question when Jaden Hossler, known as Jxdn, released his new album “WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS”.
Jxdn originally grew fame in 2019 from being on TikTok and being in this group called “The Sway Boys” and growing over a million followers in a few months. He then started making music. His first single “Comatose” was released in 2020 which then caught Travis Barker’s attention and helped him sign onto DTA records. Jxdn was quickly growing fame from there and releasing singles featuring many other artists like Nessa Barrett, Iann dior, Machine Gun Kelly, etc. Jxdn then was opening for MGK’s tour “tickets to my downfall” and releasing song after song while also being on his own tour “Tell Me About Tomorrow.” Then in June of 2023 tells fans about his new album “When the Music Stops” which then doesn’t get released till 2024 because of some personal battles going on behind the scenes.
As a long time Jxdn fan I am very excited for a whole new album after only getting featured songs and singles for three years. The album has been teased for a year and told it is going to be “amazing” so of course I am going to have high expectations after knowing he has been working on this for years. After listening to the new album I am left AMAZED. He was right, it was the best album he dropped. It shows his progress as a musician from a teen working alone to an adult working with well respected names.
My favorite song on the album is “WRECK ME” because it is a song I can personally relate to and know many others can as well. After hearing this song live while at one of his concerts for his tour “I Hope This Never Ends” in 2023 this song has been on repeat in my head.
“Chasing after me again, uh
Just so you can feel the same, uh
Memory’s a stupid thing, uh
‘Member that you’ll never change, uh”
“If I see you again, I know you’ll wreck me
I’m gonna pretend it don’t affect me”
My least favorite song on the album is “WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS.” This song has a very different tone from some of the rest of the songs and is unexpected. Imagine you are in the car and have the album on shuffle and you go from an upbeat song to a very slow sad song. It is still a very well written song and I enjoy it. It is not one of the songs stuck on repeat in my head like the other ones are. After this album Jxdn is still one of my favorite singers and I can not wait to hear whatever he has next.
