There are many things around the world that are happening without anyone’s knowledge. While so many people live regular lives, there are also so many people struggling to live every single day. Today, there are people who lost their homes, people and families are suffering, many lives lost. And worse than what I describe to you. In Gaza they are experiencing a genocide. There’s a lot of things you can’t always control but there are some actions you can take to be able to speak your voice.
The first way you can help is educate yourself on what has happened, what is happening currently and what future decisions are being made that impact people’s lives. Staying tuned in everyday is a simple way to show you are listening and to show you are actively learning about what’s happening. Just understanding the history of the conflict. Understanding and listening to political choices that are being made against human rights will give you an upper hand in learning then intuitively knowing how to help. Staying updated everyday and checking how people and families are doing daily is a good way to help, that way you can see and hear what you need to do to help. Staying updated is also helpful because of the way the situation can change for a single person in an instant second.
Another way is using your rights and your voice to advocate. This could be writing to someone important like an elected representative, or simply signing petitions, and supporting the political party that promotes peace. You are also able to raise awareness by simply talking about it, posting about it or writing about it.
You can always support a Palestine owned business whether that’s a good or a service, this way is super helpful and it’s meaningful to the people who are selling. This shows you really care and rather put your money to them than any other brand that may be profiting from the genocide. You are also able to go online and find shops to buy from that are Palestine owned. Lastly you can always find an organization or someone to donate a few dollars. The difference between 0 ways of getting help or needs vs the money that goes into these organizations could mean saving a human life.
Now, talking about organizations that are helping people in Palestine could help you next time you have a choice to donate. The top three organizations to donate to for Palestine:
“PCRF has a committee of volunteer doctors and specialists on our Medical Advisory Board who are dedicated to building up services through training, programs, and guiding PCRF to improve the quality of pediatric care in Palestine, Lebanon, and other areas in the Middle East.”
“Doctors Without Borders provides emergency medical and humanitarian aid to people who need it most, including civilians in armed conflict zones like Palestine.”
“Islamic Relief USA supports vulnerable people around the world, including those in Gaza, by providing emergency relief and long-term development programs”
Now you know more about what’s happening in the world, you have the power to support and learn more on your own. I will send you off with some highly recommended places to shop while supporting. The first one is Floral Delights Co., a nature-themed Etsy store, they have super cute designs. The second one is Nada’s Ink, inspired by cultural heritage and tradition. This one is super unique because you can peek at all different traditions. And the last one I will leave you with is Stitch4Pali, with Palestine-themed accessories. These hats are easy to style with an everyday fit.
Living life being oblivious to the world problems around you makes you a part of the issue at hand, but as humans we are able to have sympathy and we have resources that can help you learn more. Using these tools will better everyone and their point of view on life, and it will also give communities around the world the power to do the right thing and the good thing.
